Bio Notes: William John Sloan was born on 25 january 1929, the son of John Sloan, iron moulder, and his wife Agnes Strang. He was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1953. At that time he was living in Whitburn in West Lothian. He was elected ARIBA and ARIAS in 1957. Shortly after this he took a post with East Kilbride Development Corporation.

In 1965 he was working in the partnership Brydon & Sloan but this may have been dissolved by 1970. In 1975 he was practising on his own as W J Sloan from his home address in Bishopbriggs. By 1984 Sloan had moved to Malta, perhaps after retirement. but returned to Scotland after a fairly short time and died at Highcheolets (spelling?), Hawick on 26 November 1986. He was survived by his wife Janette Turnbull Inglis and his daughter.
