He was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1951. He studied at Glasgow School of Art. At that time he was based in Ayr. He is still listed as a student member in 1956 by which date he had moved to Motherwell. He is not listed after this time.
He was taken into partnership by Robert Allan sometime prior to 1964.
