Bio Notes: John Neil was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1948. He studied for the diploma in architecture at Glasgow School of Art and at the Royal College in Glasgow and was elected ARIBA in 1950.

His first post after qualification was as assistant with James M Monro & Partners. The following year, 1951, he moved to a senior assistant post with the Northern Ireland Housing Trust and in 1954 joined the practice of J V T Scott in Belfast. In 1958 he opened business on his own account still in Belfast as John Neil. He was still self employed ten years later when he was elected FRIBA, proposed by Donald A Shanks, Neil states that he had worked on local authority housing and private housing, primary schools, youth centres, swimming pools, factories, givernment and private hostels and nursing homes, banks, a hotel and alterations and additions to a hotel.

The practice title changed in the later 1980s to the John Neil Partnership (now, 2017, JNP Architects). Neil is not listed in directories in 1987.
