Bio Notes: James Ian Mackintosh (or Macintosh) was born on 9 June 1919, the son of James Mackintosh, farmer, and his wife Catherine Sharp. He was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1949. He studied for the diploma in architecture in Aberdeen. He was elected ARIBA in 1950 and ARIAS in 1964. In 1965 he was living in Ayrshire and in 1970 in Perthshire. By 1979 he was working for Glenrothes Development Corporation. He does not appear in the 1987 directory.

Mackintosh died on 9 February 2000 at Queen Margaret Hospital Dunfermline. His wife Mary Stewart Buchan or Greenstreet, assistant registrar of births, had predeceased him but he was survived by his son who lived in Cheltenham.
