Her husband was Harry Causer who had studied in Sheffield for the diploma in architecture, qualifying in 1950. They moved to work for Stevenage Development Corporation after qualification. By about 1959 they had moved to posts with Cumbernauld New Town Development Corporation. Margaret Causer was elected ARIAS in 1964.
In 1979 Harry Causer had a post with the Scottish Development Department in St Andrews House, Edinburgh.
