Bio Notes: John Reginald Shaw Young was born on 28 October 1917, the adoptive son of Agnes Laurie or Young. He was a student member of the RIBA from 1948 and was elected ARIBA in 1958. He worked in Greenock from before 1960 until after 1970. He then moved to a post in Dunoon with the Department of Architecture and Related Services. He was still in this post in in 1979 but had retired by 1987.

He died on 30 July 2008 at his home in Giffnock. His wife Christina Annie Smith, an educational psychologist, had predeceased him. His sister-in-law registered his death.
