Bio Notes: Andrew Merrylees was born on 13 October 1933 and studied at the School of Architecture, Glasgow School of Art, remaining there to complete a diploma in town planning. He was a student assistant in the practice of Basil Spence & Partners in 1952 and had been promoted to architect in 1957, although he was not admitted ARIBA until 1959. In the following year he set up his own practice, Merrylees & Morrison or A Merrylees & Partner (RIBA directories record the name of this practice as A Merrylees & Partner). This practice ceased in 1963, although again the RIBA directory of 1970 records that Leslie David Morrison was working as A Merrylees & Partner in 1970.
