Bio Notes: Victor Robert Savi was born on 12 July 1918, the son of Victor George Savi, then chief constable of Fife police, and his wife Jane Campbell Gardiner. His father originated from the Straits Settlements in south-east Asia, and the family returned there between the wars when he was chief officer of the Singapore police force.

Victor Robert was admitted a student member of the RIBA in 1947 and ARIBA in 1949. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art. By 1953 he had a post in Penang, Malaya. By 1960 he had returned to Europe and was working in France. He is not listed in the RIBA Kalender 1965, but around that time he was employed for two or three years by Sir Basil Spence, Glover & Ferguson in Edinburgh.

Savi developed a theory of relationships between colour and construction.

He died in the Western General Hospital on 7 December 1996. He was survived by his wife, Dorothea Helena McAdie, from whom he was divorced, and a son who lived in Denmark.
