Bio Notes: James Cantlie Walker was born about 1927, probably in Scotland. He studied at the School of Architecture, Edinburgh College of Art and graduated in 1951. His home address about this time was in Banffshire. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and undertook post-graduate studies at Washington State University, St Louis. He worked in various offices across the United States.

From 1953-54 he worked at the Building Research Station at Garston, Watford, Hertfordshire and was on the staff of the building advisor to the Colonial Office. By 1955 he was working for the Central Housing and Planning Authority, Georgetown, British Guiana, under the chief architect G A Atkinson. From 1955-60 he was Housing Advisor to the Government of Barbados. In 1957 he moved to the practice of Robertson Ward & Associates and was in charge of the firm's offices and their work in the West Indies. He was based in St Johns, Antigua, West Indies where remained at least until 1970.

He was elected FRIBA in 1969, proposed by John Newel Lewis, Harold Thornley Dyer and Peter Herbert Marryat Stevens. He is no longer listed in the directory of 1979.
