Bio Notes: George Pringle was born in Galashiels in 1865 or 1866, the son of William Pringle, joiner, and his wife Helen Cairns. He received his early training in the office of Messrs A Herbertson & Son in Galashiels. He moved to the office of George Washington Browne in Edinburgh and in the office of R Paterson & Son also in Edinburgh. Thereafter worked as valuation assistant in the Burgh Assessor's Department in Edinburgh. While James Laing was Burgh Assessor he acted as principal assistant and during the latter's prolonged illness he acted as Assessor. In 1925 he was officially appointed as Burgh Assessor and retired in 1930.

He died on 6 August 1940, survived by his wife Helen Cairns.
