Basic Biographical Details Name: | Edward George Louttit | Designation: | | Born: | 1882 or 1883 | Died: | 13 April 1939 | Bio Notes: | Edward George Louttit was born on 1882 or 1883, the son of Magnus Louttit, fishmonger, and his wife MaryAnn Corbett. He trained as an architect with Henry Kerr. He later became a monumental sculptor and worked for the sculptors Stewart McGlashan & Sons, Canonmills, Edinburgh where he remained for 35 years.
In his spare time he was a keen musician and for many years was a prominent member of the Southern Light Opera Company. He was secretary of the Geoghegan-Solfeggio Club and also of the Harmonists' Musical Association. From 1923 he was a member of the Scottish Arts Club and for 24 years a member of the Edinburgh Rotary Club, serving on the Community Service Committee; he was also a member of the Council, and for a considerable time acted as secretary of the Rotarian Gold Club.
