Bio Notes: James Shivas Mackie was born on 30 August 1933, the son of William Polson Mackie, Acting Employment Officer, and his wife Isabella Scott Shivas. He studied at the University of Strathclyde and obtained the degree of BArch. He was elected ARIBA in 1967.

By 1970 he had the post of Depute Burgh Architect & Planning Officer in Airdrie. By 1987 he was Director of Planning and Architectural Services, Inverclyde District Council. He would seem to have retired by 1994 as his home address is given in the RIBA directory.

He died at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley on 23 March 2003. He was not married.
