He attended the School of Architecture, Edinburgh College of Art. He was elected ARIBA in 1952 and ARIAS in 1964. He joined Robert Gellatly Rigg Brown in partnership before 1970. The practice was still in operation in 1980.
Sproul died on 4 October 1982.
