Following a 3 year absence from 1979 to 1981 to attain his Post Graduate Diploma and acquire additional work experience he returned in 1982 as an Assistant Architect. He has been a Director at Wittets since 1985 and attained qualification as a Planning Supervisor (now known as CDM Coordinator) in 1995. Stephen is responsible for management of building contracts as designer and project architect for commissions ranging from private houses, health, educational and leisure/sport projects, MOD work, distillery and industrial units, conservation and listed building restoration and residential developments. He has been an Associate of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland since 1983, a member of the Association of Planning Supervisors (now Association of Project Safety) since 1995. Stephen holds a BSc Arch (Hons) (1978) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture (1981) from Scott Sutherland School of Architecture at Robert Gordon University.
