Bio Notes: Lachlan Stewart is based in the Highlands. He and his wife founded the architecture and design practice ANTA.

'ANTA is a Scottish design and architecture firm, founded in the early 1980s by Annie and Lachlan Stewart. ANTA Architecture is based in Fearn, Ross-shire, in the eastern Highlands of Scotland with a recently opened office in Edinburgh. The practice undertakes a wide range of projects, both in the UK and abroad. In addition to the design of high quality new residential, commercial and civic buildings, ANTA’s comprehensive portfolio also includes interior design; urban design; and the restoration and conservation of historic buildings – an area in which the practice holds considerable expertise.

ANTA’s architecture is strongly informed by the Scottish vernacular, and best known for its own interpretation and contemporary take on the building tradition. The practice’s philosophy is to value and enhance local traditions, with understanding and sensitivity towards existing contexts and their aesthetic qualities. ANTA designs with simplicity, observing proportions and using colours inspired by the Scottish landscape; and the practice builds using the finest natural materials and craftsmanship locally available. The practice has a holistic approach to each project and the aim is to deliver a unified aesthetic where there is a harmonious dialogue between landscape, architecture, interior design and furnishings.'
