Basic Biographical Details Name: | John Mansfield Harrison | Designation: | | Born: | 5 July 1907 | Died: | April 1975 | Bio Notes: | John Mansfield Harrison was born on 5 (Death Register) or 7 (RIBA Nomination Paper) July 1907, the son of Jesse Harrison, joiner, and his wife Ida Mansfield. He worked as assistant (or apprentice?) to G Langley Taylor from October 1927 to May 1929, to Thomas Rayson from May 1929 to February 1931, and to Oxfordshire's County Surveyor from February 1931 until at least 1935, all the while attending lectures at Oxford School of Art. He was admitted ARIBA on 2 December 1935, his proposers being Rayson, Taylor and Roland Fielding Dodd.
He died at Scotscraig, Links Road, Lochgelly, Fife in April 1975, having lived latterly at l7 Belvidere Road, Edinburgh. A daughter also lived in Edinburgh, and his son-in-law reported the death.
