Designation:
Born: 25 December 1937
Died: 2 January 2009
Bio Notes: Thomas Bryan Michie was born on 25 December 1937, the son of John Alexander Michie, hospital porter, and his wife Janet Ogilvie Hay. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art and graduated in 1965. He was elected ARIBA in 1968.

His first post was with Shaw Stewart Baikie & Perry, spending two years there completing his professional practice requirement. In 1967 he moved to Philip Cocker Associates in Grangemouth where in due course he became an associate. Three years later he joined Marshall Morrison in Edinburgh in a similar post. While he was with Marshall Morrison he met Henry W Paterson with whom he later formed an independent practice.

In 1975 Michie and Paterson established MAP (Multi-professional Architectural Practice). Both engineers and architects were employed in the practice which gradually expanded and branch offices were opened in London and Inverness. The practice was repsonsible for a wide range of designs including housing, offices, hotels and factories for the semi-conduction and scrience industries.

Michie retired in 2005 and the practice was sold. He died at the Western General Hospital Edinburgh of broncopneumonia on 2 January 2009. He was survived by his wife, Margaret Morrison Brown, a retired secretary.
