Bio Notes: Kenneth Barclay White was born on 30 January 1954 and was educated at Bearsden Academy. He studied part-time at the Mackintosh School of architecture in the early 1970s while at the same time working in the Glasgow practice of T M Miller & Partners (later the Miller Partnership). In 1979 he won the Glasgow Institute of Architects prize for his project for Part II of his degree.

White was always interested in science and technology and he collaborated with the Building Research Establishment on the effects of climate change on buildings. When computers began to be used in drawing offices, he embraced the new technology. In the mid-1980s he joined the practice of Cooper Cromar Architects to set up their computer systems and in the 1990s he took a post as CAD manager with Fife Council. From 1997 he ran the architectural practice William McWalter Associates in Stirling.

White took an active interest in professional matters and served on the Council of the Stirling Society of Architects and was a member of the RIAS's CPD Computer Conference Committee. Outwith his professional life he was a keen shot and a member of the Scottish Target Shooting Federation and the Scottish Pistol Association. He also enjoyed motoring.

He died on 17 February 2004, survived by his wife, Vicki, whom he had married in 1993, and their daughter and son.
