His career stretched from his work as group leader with Glasgow Corporation to being an Architect with Dumbarton County Council. He ultimately became Director of Architecture and Related Services at Clydebank District Council.
His obituarist notes that he was 'a good humoured gentleman, church elder and an enthusiastic cricketer, a good practitioner and someone who will be genuinely missed by all who knew him'.
He died aged 56 at his home in Alexandria on 30 March 1986.
