Bio Notes: Reginald Ernest Akerman was born on 2 May 1902. From 1915-18 he studied at Wimbledon School of Art. It is not clear what he did between 1918 and 1922 but in the latter year he became an assistant with the practice Spalding & Myers where he remained until 1930. He then transferred to a senior assistant post with United Dairies working under Frank T Dear. In 1933 he married Ivy V Brown in Croydon. He was elected LRIBA in 1948. Three years later he was promoted to deputy architect. He was still in this post when he applied for Fellowship of the RIBA in 1957, proposed by Dear, M H Thomas and W F Grainger.

Akerman retired before 1979.
