Basic Biographical Details Name: | Ronald Leslie Marshall | Designation: | | Born: | c. 1930 | Died: | 13 March 1992 | Bio Notes: | Ronald Leslie Marshall was born about 1930. He studied at an as yet unidentified college and was awarded the Tite Prize in 1951. He was elected ARIBA in 1953.
The years 1951-53 were spent undertaking National Service in the War Office. He was commissioned in the Royal Engineers as Garrison Engineer and worked on new constructions in the Middle East. He worked as senior assistant with J Douglas Mathews & Partners from 1955-61 and an Associate with Mathews Ryan & Simpson from 1961-69 and was consultant architect with Marshall Harrison & Boothroyd (package and exhibition designers) from 1967-69. He was elected FRIBA in 1969, his proposers being Edmund Douglas Jefferiss Mathews, Michael Ryan and Roy Latham. Mathews described Marshall in the reference in the latters' Fellowship Nomination Paper as a 'highly competent architect, in respect of design, construction management and leadership'.
As Associate with Mathews Ryan & Simpson Marshall was involved in the day-to-day management of the firm and was project architect for a range of jobs including a five acre central re-development design in Kensington; a supermarket on two floors with basement garage and fifty flats and maisonettes over; a new hotel at St Andrews Golf Course with 80 bedrooms and associated public rooms and services; phase 1 of a multi-million pound development for a major computer manufacturer in Scotland.
He died in Norfolk on 13 March 1992.
