Basic Biographical Details Name: | Bryan Percy Westwood | Designation: | | Born: | 1 November 1909 | Died: | October 1990 | Bio Notes: | Bryan Percy Westwood was born on 1 Niovember 1909. From 1928 he studied at the Architectural Association Schools. In 1932 he made a study trip to Sweden with a further period of study of six weeks the following year in France and Italy. He was elected ARIBA in 1933, his proposers being P J Westwood, L Reiv Hall and H Bucknell. In 1934 he again went to Scandinavia and on this occsion visited Sweden, Denmark and Finland. In that same year he spent a month working on fire precautions in a District Surveyor's office.
Later in 1934 he took a post in the office of Searle & Searle. From 1935 he was employed in the firm Westwood & Emberton which designed Austin Reed shops. He was elected FRIBA in 1950 proposed by Howard Robertson, Anthony A Quilly and A Addison Miller(?).
Westwood died in October 1990 in the district of Reading and Wokingham. |
