Basic Biographical Details Name: | Duncan James Johnston Wright | Designation: | | Born: | 11 November 1913 | Died: | Late 2000 | Bio Notes: | Duncan James Johnston Wright was born in Alford, Aberdeenshire, the son of James Johnstone Wright, general merchant, and his wife, Maggie Annabella McKenzie McPherson. He studied at Robert Gordon's College, Aberdeen, from 1932 to 1938, and meanwhile worked in the office of George Bennett Mitchell & Son. On receiving his diploma in June 1938, he found a position in the office of Aberdeen's City Architect, Alexander Buchanan Gardner. He was admitted ARIBA on 21 October 1941, his proposers being Gardner, R Leslie Rollo and T Scott Sutherland. He had moved to London at some point before the mid-1950s. He remained at the same address in London until at least 1994.
