Bio Notes: Harry Anderson Mochrie was born on 1 December 1898 at Broomfield Place, Stenhousemuir, the son of James Mochrie, clothier, and his wife Alison Thomson Anderson. He was articled to T Andrew Millar of Glasgow from 1915 to 1921, attending the Science & Art School, Falkirk in 1915-16 and the Royal Technical College and Glasgow School of Architecture in 1920-21, and spending a certain period on war service.

In 1920 he secured the post of assistant to J M Monro & Son. In 1926 he moved to the office of Donald John Cameron, in 1929 to that of Birkenhead Borough Surveyor R W Johnston, and in 1930 to work in Leicester under the City Surveyor A J Gooseman, who was a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Mochrie was admitted ARIBA in late 1940, his proposers being Kenneth Palmer, chief architect of Leicester Corporation, and two others (seemingly a G Monro and an A Harrason).

He attained the position of Chief Assistant Architect for the City Corporation. He retired age 65 in 1963.

He died in March 1970.
