Bio Notes: Walter Welsh Forsythe was born on 5 January 1907. He studied at Royal Technical College in Glasgow from 1921 and at the same time served his articles in the practice of George A Boswell. He completed his articles in 1926. From 1926 to 1929 he worked possibly as a surveyor with J Gall Smith and in the latter year transferred to the office of William Bain Co where he worked as architect and surveyor. Many works he undertook there were in conjunction with the Ministry of Works in Edinburgh.

In 1936 Forsythe moved to work in Leeds for Messrs Montague Burton where the senior architect was N Martin, FRIBA. Forsythe states that he had 'complete control of the design', detailing and supervision etc of seven of the larger branches of the shop, the largest being in Warrington.

In 1939 he transferred to the practice of J Gordon Davies in Norwich to the position of senior assistant where he worked mainly on industrial projects. He joined the Norfolk and Norwich Association of Architects and was also a member of the Institute of Regional Architects.

He was elected LRIBA in 1947 proposed by John Gordon Davies, Eric Wildred Boning Scott and Theodore Gilbert Scott.
