Bio Notes: Mervyn Francis Brake was born on 1 March 1925. He studied for the diploma in architecture in Cardiff. He was elected ARIBA in 1951. In about 1955 he was working in Corby, Northamptonshire but by about 1960 he had a post in the practice of Sir Percy Thomas & Son in Cardiff.

In the mid-1960s he worked with Midlothian County Architects Department. He was elected ARIAS in 1975 (RIAS membership records give the year of his election as 1959). At the time of his retirement in the mid-1980s from the post of Principal Architect, Branch 2, Educational & Social Work Building Division, SDD he living in the Braid area of Edinburgh.

He was living in East Devon at the time of his death in 2006. His death was registered in February of that year.
