He intially trained as an architectural technician but went on to study architecture at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture in Aberdeen. After qualification he worked with The Kennedy Partnership transferring to a position with Aberdeen Council City Architect's Department. In 1983 he set up practice on his own account as Studio A Architects in Marischall Street, Aberdeen.
Wildridge was active in professional matters and served on the committee of the Aberdeen Society of Architects for several years, the RIAS Insurance Committee, the CPD Committee and the CPD Computer Conference Committee. He was also a member of the RIAS Panel of Arbiters/Expert Witnesses and Independent Reports. He was an outspoken member of the Executive Committee of Aberdeen Civic Society.
