Bio Notes: Alfred ('Alf') William Cooper was born in Perth on 4 April 1928, the son of Alfred Cooper, works chemist, and his wife Isobel Macdonald Ross. He graduated from Aberdeen with a diploma in architecture and was elected ARIBA in 1959. In 1965 he was working with Bamber Gray. In 1970 he was West Lothian County Architect and by 1981 he was a partner with David Harvey Scott & Partners (later called Harvey Scott & Partners) in Glasgow. When it opened in 1989, he was in charge of the Glasgow office of Bamber Gray.

In the RIBA directory of 1994 he is recorded as having his own practice Cooper Design Associates which operated from his home address in Glasgow.
