Name: Walker & Smith
Designation:
Born: 1839
Died: 1844
Bio Notes: David Walker was a surveyor in Aberdeen. He originally set up business in Cruden's Court, Aberdeen in about 1820 but moved his office a number of times, being at 129 Union Street in 1839. In the early 1820s Walker took on James Forbes Beattie as an apprentice. After the completion of his articles Beattie remained with Walker, finally becoming his partner in 1829, the practice being Walker & Beattie.

In 1839 Beattie went to Australia to manage the Kaawa Copper Mining Company, which was owned by a group of Aberdeen businessmen. After Beattie's departure, Walker took Alexander Smith, surveyor, into partnership as Walker & Smith. The partnership was short-lived as David Walker died in 1844, but Smith continued to practise until 1869 when he would appear to have given up or retired.
