Bio Notes: John Ernest Gordon Halford was born on 28 October 1917, the son of Frederick Ignatius Halford, fitting engineer, and his wife Lilian May Collins. He was elected ARIBA in 1952 and ARIAS in 1964. He joined Fife County Architects Department Education Department between 1954 and 1960. He remained with the County Council until the 1970s. By 1980 he would appear to have retired from his post with the Local Authority and to be operating a small private practice from his home.

He died at the Adamson Hospital, Cupar, on 1 April 1986. He was survived by his second wife Jessie Gray MacCallum (his first wife was Josephine Mary Power).
