Basic Biographical Details Name: | Ivor Richards | Designation: | | Born: | 1 May 1943 | Died: | 15 September 2020 | Bio Notes: | Richards was born in Chelmsford, Essex where his parents were in service at the local estate. His father was a butler and he was brought up in the village of Exning.
He studied architecture at Southend with trips to London for tuition from Cedric Price. He then worked briefly with Stillman and Eastwick-Field following graduation.
From 1969 to 1984 he worked at Leslie Martin Studio, working on projects including the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Gallery, Lisbon, 1984.
From 1984-1990, he was a Professor at Cardiff University, followed by Newcastle University between 1990 and 2008 1978 Married Anne Rostas (one son, one daughter), marriage dissolved 1996. His work with William Nimmo and Partner is assumed to have been at the same time as his professorship at Newcastle.
He died in Cambridge.
