Basic Biographical Details Name: | James Robertson Marshall | Designation: | | Born: | c. 1929 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | James Robertson Marshall studied at the School of Architecture, Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with a diploma in 1954. He secured a post as senior architect for T Bowhill Gibson & Laing in 1956, and was admitted ARIBA in 1958 and ARIAS in 1959. That same year, 1959, he joined the South-East Regional Health Board as principal architect. In 1962 he moved to the firm of RMJM. He was appointed principal partner of Ferguson, Marshall & Morison, with offices at 16 Great Stuart Street, Edinburgh in 1964. The other partners were Michael Charles Morison and James Ferguson. By 1975 the practice was J R Marshall & Partners.
He was elected FRIAS in 1968 and FRIBA on 5 June the same year, his proposers for the latter being John Holt, Ian Dewar Haig and Eric Dalgleish Davidson. His nomination papers do not indicate his birth date but state that he was 39 years old at that time.
