He studied at Glasgow School of Architecture and was admitted ARIBA in 1951. In 1960 he was working with his father at 6 India Street, Glasgow. They were still in partnership in 1970 but had moved the office to no 19 India Street. In the 1970s he took a post with Strathclyde Regional Council, Department of Architecture and Related Services and was still there in 1979.
