Bio Notes: James Mason Paterson studied for the degree of BArch at the University of Strathclyde and remained there to study for a diploma in town planning. He was elected ARIBA in 1961. He joined John McDonald Watson as junior partner in May 1967 as Watson Paterson Architects and Town Planning Consultants. Stuart Ingram joined the practice in 1989 the name becoming the Watson Paterson Ingram Partnership. Ingram left in 1994 and the practice name was changed to WPA - Watson Paterson Architects.

Paterson died on 22 December 1995, survived by his wife Sheila.
