Bio Notes: Stuart Hodgson Paterson was born on 12 December 1924, the son of John Kirkland Paterson, grocer, and his wife Mabel Louisa Hodgson. He studied architecture at the School of Art in Glasgow and was elected ARIBA in 1953 and ARIAS in 1958. By 1964 he was a representative of the Glasgow chapter of the RIAS. In 1970 he was the sole partner in the practice Launcelot H Ross & Lindsay. By 1987 the firm had amalgamated with John Hepburn Associates as John Hepburn Associates Architects inc Ross Lindsay & Partners.

Paterson died in the Western Infirmary in Glasgow on 26 May 1988, survived by his wife Margaret Lilian Shotbolt.
