Bio Notes: Colin Young Morton was born on 26 January 1925, the son of Thomas Irvine Morton, quantity surveyor and architect, Dumfries and his wife Isabella Little Pirrit. He graduated BArch from Strathclyde University and was elected ARIBA in 1951. He joined his father in practice as T I Morton and Son at some point thereafter. The name of the practice had changed to Morton Architects by 1980.

Colin Morton died at Goldielea Private Nursing Home, Dalbeattie Road, Dumfries on 16 July 2007, survived by his wife Alison Margaret Mundall, a retired school teacher.
