Bio Notes: Thomas Irvine Livingstone Morton was born on about 1891, the son of John Morton, painter and his wife, Margaret Inglis. He was a trained quantity surveyor but would appear to have undertaken some architectural work, perhaps after his son Colin, who was a qualified architect, joined the practice, the name of the firm being T I Morton & Son.

Thomas Morton died aged 68 at Dumfries Royal Infirmary on 21 September 1959.

The practice was later joined by John P Morton and Charles Fotheringham. By 1980 the practice title had become Morton Architects.
