Basic Biographical Details Name: | Hugh Campbell Connell | Designation: | | Born: | 1 December 1913 | Died: | 13 May 2011 | Bio Notes: | Hugh Campbell Connell was born on 1 December 1913 at 269 Springburn Road, Glasgow, the son of Daniel Connell, journeyman engine fitter, and his wife Agnes McGilvray.
He studied at for the degree of BSc in Architecture at the University of Glasgow and was elected ARIBA in 1946. Thereafter he spent five years in the various offices, including that of Bradshaw Gass & Hope. He In 1953-54 he was working in Leeds and in December 1959 was short-listed for Angus County Architect post. By 1963-64 he was living in Kent, probably when he had the post of Deputy Borough Architect of Camberwell.
By 1979 Connell had returned to Scotland probably when he retired and was living in Kirkcudbrightshire. He died on 13 May 2011 at Fleet Valley Nursing Home. His wife, Thomasina, had predeceased him.
