Bio Notes: Ian Martin Will enrolled as an architecture student at the Glasgow School of Art before transferring in 1957 to the full-time course at the Royal College of Science and Technology (later the University of Strathclyde). He was awarded the Silver Medal of the Glasgow School of Architecture in 1959, as well as the RIAS Rutland Prize and the Sir John Burnet Prize in the same year. He was elected ARIBA in 1961 and ARIAS the following year.

On graduation he worked for a spell as a post-graduate assistant at the Architecture Unit of the University of Edinburgh. Following a period with Keppie Henderson & Partners, he went into partnership with Bill Greenock to form the firm of Greenock & Will in 1968. This partnership lasted until 1990 when he set up I.M. Will Associates, which continued until his retirement.

Alongside his professional practice, he was a lecturer at the Mackintosh School of Architecture from 1964 - 1968 and a visiting lecturer thereafter from 1968 -1972. He was an External Examiner for the RIBA at the Mackintosh School of Architecture from 1987 – 1990.
