Basic Biographical Details Name: | John McLachlan | Designation: | | Born: | 14 April 1928 | Died: | 7 December 1995(?) | Bio Notes: | John McLachlan was born on 14 April 1928, the son of James McLachlan, stair retailer, and his wife Magdalen McDermid. He was admitted ARIBA in 1950 and was initially based in Glasgow. He studied at the School of Art there. In the early 1960s he was living in Glenrothes and worked for the New Town Development Corporation. However he had an address in Dollar in 1970, and joined Philip Cocker in partnership in 1971, the practice title becoming Philip Cocker & Partners. The practice initially had offices in Grangemouth and Glasgow, with the Grangemouth office moving to Edinburgh in 1973. McLachlan, however, retained a Grangemouth address until at least 1979. He remained with the Cocker firm until its closure in 1992.
