| Bio Notes: | John Shackleton appears to have been a draughstman in the office of Wardrop & Reid. He may be the same person as John Carins Shackleton who was a joiner and builder and who was born in 1852 or 1853, the son of John Carins Shackleton and his wife Janet Pringle. John Shackleton signed the drawings for the reconstruction of Braehead House in 1877. He appears briefly in Edinburgh Post Office Directories in the early 1880s and is described as a 'joiner and wright'. His address is given as 39 Dundee Terrace. He can probably be identified with the John Cairns Shackleton who died aged 66 on 25 January 1919 at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. His wife Louisa Alexander had predeceased him. |
