He may have been born and brought up in Montreal as Edward C Dewick arrived in Glasgow from Quebec on 1 July 1927. He qualified as a chartered surveyor. He would appear to have had a post with the North British Railway Company (?) by the 1950s.
He died in Inverclyde Hospital, Greenock on 24 August 1984. His wife Gertrude Bessie Dalton had predeceased him.
