Bio Notes: Ian Robert James Woods was born in Glasgow on 17 May 1921, the son of Robert Woods, clothier's buyer, and his wife, Agnes Louisa Spashett. He studied architecture at the Glasgow School of Art. He also studioed for a diploma in town planning in Glasgow. He was admitted ARIBA in 1949. He was living in Giffnock in 1950. By 1956 he had moved to East Kilbride where he had a post with the Development Corporation, remaining there until at least 1960.

By 1965 he had moved to Durham. He is no longer listed in 1987.
