Bio Notes: John Alexander McGregor was born on 14 June 1911, the son of Alexander McGregor, hairdresser, and his wife Catherine Marshall. He trained as a civil engineer. He was Burgh Engineer of Paisley in the early to mid-1950s.

McGregor died in the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh on 26 October 2000, survived by his wife, Isobel Miller Cummack, and his son John.
