Bio Notes: Edward Trevor Thomas was born on 11 February 1914, the son of Edward Thomas, district auditor and his wife, Clara Stead. He studied at Rutherford Technical College in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, taking the 5-year part-time course from 1933-38 at the same time as serving his articles with Marshall & Tweedy, Newcastle (1932-35). In the latter year he joined the City Architect's Department in Newcastle where he remained until he was called up in the Second World War. He saw four years of active service in the Middle East. He was demobilised in October 1945 and returned to his previous post.

In July 1946 he sat the Special Final Exam in Edinburgh and was elected ARIBA on 10 December 1946, proposed by R G Roberts, R Norman Mackellar and W Tweedy.

Thomas lived in Eskbank in 1950. In the early 1960s he was in partnership with Thomas Armstrong. They practised at 8 Hunter Street, Kirkcaldy. By 1970 Armstrong was sole partner though the practice title was retained. Thomas later worked for SSHA.

He died at the Deaconess Hospital, Edinburgh on 22 November 1974, survived by his wife, Joan Pamela Kilgour.
