He was A.M.Inst.C.E. and A.M.T.P.I. He held the post of Burgh Engineer of Kirkcaldy in the mid-1950s and may have moved to become City Engineer elsewhere subsequently as he is described as such in the death register.
Meldrum died on 7 November 1978 at 8 Horseleys Park St Andrews, survived by his wife Annie Miller Ritchie and at least one son.
