He studied at the School of Architecture, Edinburgh College of Art and was elected ARIBA in 1949. He was an assistant in the office of Basil Spence in the 1950s and was involved in the Coventry competition.
He died on 16 January 1986 at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, survived by his wife, Susan Elizabeth Rona Kruse (who has subsequently died).
