Bio Notes: James Beattie Bell was born on 20 September 1920, the son of James Beattie Bell, spirit warehouse manager, and his wife Isabella Bertram. He studied architecture at Edinburgh College of Art and was admitted ARIBA in 1949. In 1950 his address was in Buccleuch Place in Edinburgh. He was an employee of the National Coal Board by the mid-1960s. By 1970 was in Doncaster. In 1979 he was Director of Contracts, Purchasing & Stores Department, National Coal Board. He later moved to Dumfriesshire, perhaps after he had retired. He died on 10 April 1993 at home in Dumfries, survived by his wife Elizabeth Hall McDermott.
