He studied for the Diploma in Architecture at Aberdeen and was admitted ARIBA in 1948. He subsequently took a post with the Ministry of Works in Edinburgh. He remained with them until at least 1979 when his office was in Argyle House.
He died on 27 September 2003 at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.
