Bio Notes: James Alexander Roy McKee studied for the RIBA Diploma in Town Planning. From November 1931 he was articled to H M Spiers & Co, Land Surveyor, Glasgow. However he moved after a year to the office of W R Rogers, architect and surveyor, Belfast where he remained unitl 1935. In November of that same year he took a post as assistant with Newry Urdan District Council but moved in February of the following year to the office of John McGeogh as senior assistant. In Fenruary 1938 he took a post in the Department of Works and Public Buildings which was under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance in Northern Ireland. He was admitted ARIBA in 1940, his proposers being R H Gibson, R I Linesline and R Ingleby Smith.

From February 1943 he worked for the Ministry of Health and Local Government at Stormont but left to re-enter private practice working as manager of the Belfast office of Jackson A Blakely in May 1946. He was elected ARIAS in 1955.

By 1964 McKee was Depute County Planning Officer of Ayrshirebut had moved to Worcester by 1970 to become City Architect and Planning Officer there. By 1979 he had left the local authority and was in partnership with ___ Pursey as Pursey & McKee in Worcester. Pursey has not yet been traced.

McKee died in Worcester in April 1996.
